- Benefits of Dodow
- Rebalances Autonomic Nervous State
- Harmless– Unlike other sleeping-aids, Dodow does not leave any sort of side-effects that causes trouble in the long term. It is an alternate therapy that relaxes your senses, just by regulating your nervous system functioning.
- Non-Addictive-Once you train your senses to relax through Dodow’s relaxation technique and the art to balance your Autonomic Nervous State (ANS), you can easily switch to normal sleeping without any kind of extra efforts.
- Affordable-You might wonder you can achieve the same through Yoga and Meditation. Right? But, the attention span of a person not used to meditating is 30 seconds at the most, so you can be off the track soon. Dodow helps you to get rid of thoughts by focusing on the light, without having to count your breaths.
When you focus on the dim blue light projected on the ceiling and synchronize your breathing to its pace, it will bring down your breathing at 6 respirations per minute. The exhalation is 50% longer than the inhalation. At this stage, your mind will shift its attention either from unwanted thoughts or any external noise. Here, it stimulates the baroreflex, a small physiological mechanism that rebalances the Autonomic Nervous State (ANS), making you feel relaxed and gradually drifting you to a sound sleep.
4 Steps to Use Dodow
Breathe in Rhythm with the Light
Focus on the blue light projected onto the ceiling. Synchronize your breathing as per the rhythm of the light, inhale when the beam expands and exhale when it retracts.
The Flow of Your Thoughts Decreases
When you concentrate on the light, it drifts your mind’s attention from unwanted thoughts and stress, that stimulate your waking state. Hence, this calms the mind, help you to fall asleep easily and quickly.
Your Breathing Gradually Slows Down
Gradually, you will feel that your exhalation is longer than your inhalation. Dodow helps you to slow down your breathing pace from 11 to 6 breaths per minute (bpm), taking your mind to a peaceful zone.
Carry on for 8 Minutes
When the breathing pace is reduced to 6 bpm, it will trigger baroreflex- a physiological mechanism that rebalance your Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) which is the main culprit behind insomnia. Hence, carry this activity for 8 minutes to get a peaceful sleep.
